Bone marrow transplantation
Its now done at Manipal and Narayana Hrudayalaya in Bangalore but it costs around 12- 15 lacs....
Poor people would not have earned that much even in their life time..Should philanthropists contribute?
Should all people contribute some money and pool in?
What should the poor families do?

How to improve health in rural and among urban poor?
Swaminathan Anklesaria Iyer fascinates me with his articles in Times edit pages on sundays. On one such sunday ,he had talked about getting a computer in each village with a generator and education and agriculture.
Anyhow Health is defined as complete social, mental and physical well-being.So that initiative would also help in telemedicine and help in health

A healthcare boom after IT boom?
People are predicting about a BT boom ...but where is it?Its incubation period is long and costs are plenty..
I think rather than BT boom there will be a healthcare boom in India in the next 5 to 10 years..with a lot of software professionals with high paying jobs and leading stressed out lives..Already it is showing with the number of infertility cases,accidents,obesity...
People will flock to health clinics for preventive health care to get better
Also with this there is advancement of technology with networking sites like orkut enabling us to communicate with any person in the world..Naturally as a result of this Medical tourism will benefit with India offering cheap and world-class health care...
This augurs well for the second -largest industry after agriculture in India.
